Please note:- Before September 2nd., 1752 , the Julian Calendar was used, where  the year  ran from, 25th March, Lady Day and also New Years Day, until the following 24th March.
On September 2nd. , 1752, the Gregorian calendar was introduced  and to synchronize it the calendar was advanced by 11 days, so that Wednesday,  September 2nd. was followed by  Thursday,  September 14th. New Years Day then changed to January 1st. This means that February 19th, 1555, dated under the old calendar should now be read as February 19th, 1556.

Ann, baptised Barham 31st October 1619. Father recorded as William Garlinge. The event was recorded in the register in a different hand.
Garlinge was not a common name and does not seem to appear in the surrounding parish registers at this time, but the spacing between births of John Garlinge's children indicates either long absences, possibly at sea, or, more likely, moving to other parishes for work. I hope to find a definite link very soon.
